Pixie is in doggy paradise at SF Hound lounge. Once we’re within half a mile of the building she starts eagerly pulling in their direction. She comes home happy and exhausted and having mastered her ‘sits’ and other basic commands. The staff are very friendly and great with dogs; Pixie quickly warmed up to everyone there even though she’s very shy around new people. I’m also amazed by how attentive the staff are, when Pixie came in wearing a new (but nearly-identical) collar a staff member immediately exclaimed “Pixie, you got a new collar!” Your doggy is in good hands here.
“We tried several dog daycares in the city before we found SF Hound Lounge. This place is definitely top notch. They have tunnels and slides which the dogs just love. (the highlight though, has to be the fire hydrant in the sand box…). The staff is absolutely wonderful and the dog to staff ratio is better than anywhere else.”
The Hound Lounge goes above and beyond when taking care of my dog each work day. Our pup trots happily to the door each morning, and is greeted by name by kind staff members who truly seem to care about his well-being. They are accommodating of his every need, and the drop-off policy and 7-7 or 8 hours work well for busy professionals who still want their dogs to have great lives.
“I found a great place for spoiled little Lola! The folks at SF Hound Lounge are amazing! They truly take care of your dog! Truly a gem in the search for good dog daycare in San Francisco!”
My 7 Month old Ridgeback mix has been attending daycare at “the Lounge” since she got her 3rd round of shots and I couldn’t be happier with the affect it has had on her socialization and adaptability. The staff at the Lounge are courteous and attentive to the needs of each and every dog that comes in. If I ever have a question about my dog’s day, I can get a full report as they are constantly taking notes on play and behavior. They even taught her a command “Enough!” that has saved me tremendous hassles at dog parks when she doesn’t want to leave. Now when I say it she’s at my feet in no time.
The added perks of late pick up, walks and feedings at little to no extra cost, grooming and exceptional cage free boarding make the Lounge the best place in the Bay to leave your pup, rest assured they are in the best of hands.
Wyatt LIVES for the lounge. He’s crazy about going there! He especially loves his new canine and human friends. Wyatt is a deaf dog; so when it’s time to go to day-care, I signal to him that we’re going. (I pretend I’m driving with my hands as a steering wheel.) He starts to whimper, wags his tail a whole lot and attempts to wait patiently by the front door!
My dogs are so well taken care of here it’s nuts. I have two small dogs, about 20lbs of dog between them, and they come home tired and happy. The staff know my girls, even when we haven’t been in for a month or so, meaning they actually remember my pups and they know their likes and dislikes. One is 12 and is more easy going and likes to play with her little sister and only a few other dogs, and they accommodate that. The other is 4 and is very silly, but since they have a group of small dogs that are apart on the weekdays they are contained and there are no issues.
Their service is unmatched. The younger one was attacked by a dog on our street and became very skittish and apprehensive toward any doggie that wasn’t her big sister, no matter how sweet they were; and once she had healed a bit and needed a day at the sitter we called to discuss her situation. Not only had they already heard about her situation from the news paper and word of mouth, they were happy to see how she would do. She was spooked, but with their attention she was able to just hang out in the lap of her favorite person there (or so we were told). The next day she opened up and was much happier playing with her friends. Nowhere else would we have received that same attention, without paying some sort of premium.
We use them for overnight boarding too, and they are great! The fact that someone sleeps with them and doesn’t leave like a kennel would just shows their family style care.
I have never seen a huge amount of dogs, and usually I drop the girls off later in the morning when most people have already brought their pups in. I am happy they screen their dogs and ban certain dogs that are aggressive or need more care. I could not have a repeat of a dog mauling one of my little girls again. I am pleased with their service always!
Plus, I love that you can ask them about your dog and they will write a little report card. We once asked about our girls coming home so tired, and they gave them extra naps. Plus it is always clean and they wash it down all the time, as a client for over 2 years I am pleased at all times! Plus the birthday treats are very cute, and yes, they remember birthdays!
“SF Hound Lounge is the coolest dog daycare in the city!”
“Kija has never been excited to return to a place of boarding, until I took her to SF Hound Lounge.”
Ripley is doing fine and adjusting to the humidity. Unfortunatly there is no place like hound lounge is chapel hill. You have a truly unique business.
Finally – a smile in my day. Masha reports that Boris and Natasha have been coming home exhausted. I say a tired dog is a happy dog. This has been a great learning experience for them, and I feel like they’re better equipped for life in the big, big city (New York). Thanks a ton.
“Micki loves the Hound Lounge. She comes home tired and so happy. I’ve even had to change my driving routes through that neighborhood because Micki gets so excited any time we are in the vicinity of SF Hound Lounge.”
‘Ashley is always greeted like Omri’s second mommy–which she is! The Hound Lounge is his second home. When we drive up, he knows exactly where we are and where to go.’
“Maggie looks at me eagerly and starts wagging her tail any time she hears me mention ‘Hound Lounge’”.
I had to say something about this wonderful place called the SF Hound Lounge. My little furry friend has been going here for over 3 years; since she was a wee little pup and Doug and Ashley have been wonderful. They helped with training, they take special request and even call when shots are due; before my vet!
The staff is just amazing. They know us by name as well as our little fur ball and they report out when things are wrong or going great. I really like the report card because I know exactly what is going with my dog and can be proactive instead of reactive to a situation. Now, they do want an atmosphere of civility so if you dog is a little aggressive then you may want to take them someplace else. I like this policy because it protects the dogs and the staff.
If you are looking for a place for your dog (week day or weekend) then SF Hound Lounge is the place for you. Highly recommend them!!!
“Zoe definitely knows what the words ÔHound Lounge’ mean. Her eyes get alert and excited and she starts to wiggle and prance around by the door. She’s always content when she arrives home, after a day spent there.”
“As we’re driving toward SF Hound Lounge, in the morning, both of my dogs get progressively more excited. They can’t wait to get in the door!”
This is one of the best places to get your dog to stay at a day care, they treat your dog extremely well and the workers there are extremely nice to the dogs. Not only do they babysit your dogs, they manage to even teach them some manners too! My dog became much more sociable with other dogs and it was great to see her getting along with some instead of barking at them like crazy.

When i got my new pet i was really worried that i would have to leave him home alone while I am at work. my co worker told me about this place and i was really pleased with the service. the prices are not that bad and my dog really likes the place. it’s a great place to take your dog and it’s also great to find other people that can relate with you and have the same love for their pets. I also have noticed a really improvement in the overall happiness of my dog. Being able to socialize with other dogs has really done wonders for his socialization skills before, he was really timid now he has no problems being around other dogs.
My sweet little “Rocky” was adopted after being found astray in San Jose. I brought him home and it was a very difficult process at trying to socialize him because he was terrified of practically everything. At the suggestion of neighbors in my building I decided to take Rocky to The Hound Lounge, which fortunately was just around the corner. I began with several days per week to get him accustomed then weaned off to every Saturday when I would be away most of the day. From the day of our first interview I felt nothing but admiration and sincere appreciation to the owners and staff there. They were always very accommodating and when Rocky would be having problems they would be sure to update me of his visit with them. I had never allowed previous pets to be boarded… that is, until I started using The Hound Lounge. Rocky simply “blossomed” over time. Granted, I worked a lot with him but it was also the help given to me by the Hound Lounge owners and staff. Rocky was never happier than when he got to go for the day to play with his “friends”. In fact, when we would take our early morning walks around the neighborhood, if he pulled me toward the Hound Lounge I would simply drop him off for the day. He loved it. Ashley and Doug were always extremely pleasant and great to work with… their staff always had a smile on their faces and always greeted Rocky by his name and welcomed him into their “group” for the day. I miss The Hound Lounge since I’ve moved to another neighborhood but will continue to use them as necessary. I can’t recommend a place more than The Hound Lounge.
Just wanted to say thank you again for taking care of Ms. Aussie Bojangles! She has become so much better with other dogs since she has been coming there! She plays better with other dogs at the dog parks and doesn’t mind when other dogs take her ball away. She even knows not to take other dogs balls now! Thank you again so much for helping her become better socialized!
